My daughter graduated from high school with honors and was accepted at UC Riverside. Working with Tovi taught me that being informed was a critical part of the educational process. She guided me through the confusing and frustrating process of helping my child prepare to attend college and through her efforts, I became a better parent. Tovi is a definite asset, and I can attest to the fact that she can and will bring out untapped potential and qualities in individuals and organizations that work to the greater good.

ASA Graduates As an administrator & teacher, Tovi is fearless when it comes to implementing new & innovative ways of teaching. After leaving ASA & entering El Cerrito High as a sophomore, not only was my daughter placed in English Advance II Honors class, she received accolades from her AP World History teacher regarding her essay writing skills.

Ms. Tovi taught me so much about English and shaped me into becoming a better writer. She helped build my confidence as well as my ability to write. Words can not explain the impact that she has been in my academic career.

I appreciated the high level of class organization and structure, the feedback system, and most of all the quality instruction and genius in the use of several learning modalities. We are still in process and Khalid is continuing on with ASA. I am very satisfied with the progress he is making so far. What he has learned on Saturdays, he is using in his current classes at school.

I was terrified about taking the CAHSEE. I had read a lot of test prep materials but was still confused and felt lost. I was afraid to go to ASA's Center because I thought tutoring was only for kids who couldn't learn. I was totally wrong. A few of my friends did great on the CAHSEE after going to ASA. I decided to give it a shot. I am glad I did. I just took the test and feel very confident.

ASA took Nicole from a system that didn't understand or appreciate her gifts to a place where she absolutely thrived, especially academically, but also socially, spiritually, psychologically and personally. ASA is where my child found her voice and discovered/activated her brilliance, challenging herself and increasing her confidence to reach academically far beyond the huge limits that were placed on her in public school.

Whatever the two of you and other ASA teachers said was necessary - books, assignments, homework, labs, field trips, community service - whatever, I fully trusted because I know your hearts and know the lengths you have gone through to research what it will take to prepare my child to fully play out her God given potential in all aspects of life - especially in preparing her to get into and succeed in the college of her choice.

My daughter was accepted into St. Mary's College High School (there was 1 transfer opening and hundreds of applicants) specifically because of her preparation at ASA. Everything you had Nicole do in the ASA curriculum was not only necessary, but essential for Nicole to qualify for and excel in classes at SMCH.

Even though the difference in tuition could have bought us Nicole's first car, she is where she is specifically because of what ASA gave her. I am forever grateful, and Nicole is too.

Love and Extreme Gratitude,
Cherri Gardner, M.A.

After making the honor roll for the first time since attending school, it let me know how hard work pays off in the end. I proved to myself that I am a winner, and I felt like a role model because I was appreciated by my school and respected by my peers. It’s a great feeling of accomplishment. I look forward to repeating my success and building my confidence because I understand more that knowledge is a true source of wealth and education is my key that unlocks the door.

The Manhood Training Program provides an excellent opportunity for Jordan to engage with adult male mentors in addition to the guidance he receives from his parents. The time and care that the Manhood Training Retreats devotes to the development of personal integrity, respect for adults and community and ways to build meaningful peer relationships has been invaluable in supporting Jordan’s emerging maturity.

ASA Academy’s emphasis on enriching the ASA community, as a whole, including parents, grandparents and extended family members recognizes that “it takes a village to raise a child.” The cultural and historical celebrations, such as, Kwanzaa, Ancestral Legacy, and annual high school trips to Africa and the Caribbean also contributes to the students local, national and international awareness of their cultural heritage. Additionally, ASA’s focus on students participating in community services helps them to realize their responsibility to contribute to the greater good in their community and in the world.

ASA Academy has made a positive influence in my life by providing me with the information that I need in order to be successful as a student and in life. I enjoy the environment that ASA provides. It is a warm, friendly, colorful, and history-enriched school, founded by two successful entrepreneurs, whom I both admire as accomplished women. ASA has mentally prepared me for my successful future as a neurosurgeon. I am very thankful of all experiences that have helped shape me into the person that I am today.
